Hollywood - we have a problem. The film and television industry attracts the most creative, inspired and inspirational, hard working and conscientious individuals
from all four corners of the world. The amount of energy that is put in is matched only by the amount of energy which is expended.
From fuel for generators and trucks, to transportation of cast and crew, from set design to wardrobe, all need energy in one
form or another to function. As the majority of our energy comes from the burning of fossil fuels the amount of carbon each
production expels can be incredible.
The burning of just one gallon of diesel fuel will release over 20 lbs of
carbon into the atmosphere. On an average sized production 250 gallons of diesel are burned per day. That means each week
over 25,000 lbs of carbon are released into the atmosphere. Combine this with the bad smell, the sore throats, sore eyes,
headaches and breathing problems that can occur from working too close to the exhaust fumes and you would ask "isn't
there a better solution?"
Well, that's what this blog is all about.
